<br />
<br />
<br />
Iets organisch, iets levends.<br />
<br />
Liefst met een boel patina.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Ringetje erop, steen erop, messing laddertje erop.<br />
Mooi hé ?<br />

<br />
Yesterday, I felt like making a thin, plate-based torq.<br />
<br />
I twisted a hammered strip of new-silver, and added roped copper and brass wire inlays.<br />
<br />
Next, I soldered silver end-bushings.<br />
<br />
A chemical blackening-agent was used to darken the metal and a surface polish was used to lighten up the top-surfaces.<br />
<br />
Do you like it?<br />

The Torc (also spelled Torque), or neck ring, was an important piece of Celtic jewelry, and was worn before 1200 BC to as late as 600 AD. It was a powerful symbol, perhaps representing the wearer's free-born status, and was often complemented with additional rings worn about the arms and wrists. Torcs were made from copper, bronze, silver, and gold. They were worn by both men and women, and are depicted as such in both Classical and Celtic sculptures.</div>

Zoomorphics, or animal forms, were very popular with the Celts. They were used to represent deities, natural and supernatural forces, and personal qualities. The animal heads are placed on the torques so they appear upright when worn.</div>

Reproduction arrowhead made by flint knapping expert<a href="http://www.ginellames.fr/us/accueil/index.php" target="_blank"> Bernard Ginelli </a>form the Prehistoparc in Les Eyzies, Dordogne, France.<br />
<br />
The arrowhead was mounted in on a plastic tube to support it during scanning on a small turntable.<br />
For scanning I used the David SLS-2 that proved to be excellent for this job.<br />
<br />
Objects from 40 cm high to only 4 cm can be scanned amazingly good and fast using structured light.<br />
<br />
This scan is a "textured" scan so both shape and exterior color is scanned.<br />
A scan like this can be shown in 3D plus printed in color with modern 3D printers.<br />
<br />
The scanprocess I used is shown in some videos on my <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLRK-IMpGQmHeTA3IEQUS9A" target="_blank">Youtube channe</a>l .<br />
Using the name PiXiS 3D consultancy I assist companies on their way to implement 3D scanning and printing in their line of work. <br />

Reproductie pijlpunt, gemaakt door vuursteenexpert <a href="http://www.ginellames.fr/us/accueil/index.php" target="_blank">Ginelli </a>van het Prehistoparc in Les Eyzies, Dordogne.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Het 3D scanproces en de bewerking van scans wordt op mijn<a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLRK-IMpGQmHeTA3IEQUS9A" target="_blank"> Youtube kanaal </a>duidelijk getoond.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Silver nail cleaner, inspired by the Romans</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
This is a nail cleaner, just like the ones the Romans used, centuries ago.<br />
<br />
You can always tell whether Romans, and more specific Roman women, have lived somewhere. If so, artefacts like these will be found all over the place.<br />
<br />
For this piece I used a left-over scrap of silver, already looking a bit fishy - it was more or less fish-shaped.<br />
<br />
I hammered it a bit to "blow" it up - give it some volume and used several chisels to add detail.<br />
<br />
I'll probably add a little hole in the top of the shell to make it a pendant.<br />

Yes! A new line of fine arts jewelry is coming to you.<br />
<br />
Using an ancient technique that dates back to the Egyptians and the Celts I formed copper and brass shells, in lovely organic shapes.<br />
<br />
Combined with gorgeous howlite turquoise stones this necklace is truly one-of-a-kind...<br />
<br />
I have many ideas for a whole series of "Warp Nexus" jewelry, rings, bracelets, etcetera.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Early version Sykes-Fairbain knife</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I've made some knives in the past, but only kitchen knives of the Roman kind.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I know some knivesmiths use waste chainsaw chains for making Damascus steel.</div>
<div>
I'd like to give it a try with some chainsaw chains that have been living in my workshop for a long time...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What I want to make is not easy, and I'm likely to fail.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It's because of the shape that I want to make a "Sykes-Fairbairn" WW2 fighting knife.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It has a famous past as it was the weapon of choice for the elite "commando" troops that raided the coasts of occupied Europe from 1940 to 1944.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
One of my fathers uncles (my father was born in the Netherlands, but most of his family was German...), a German soldier guarding the Atlantic Wall, was killed by a commando, his throat sliced with this weapon.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The cruel practice of "silent killing" is told <a href="http://youtu.be/uDGHKyB3T_U" target="_blank">here</a> by a former member of the commandos on camera at the National Army Museum.</div>
<div>
(It's always fascinating to hear old soldiers talk... watch the look on their faces when they tell their horrific experiences...)<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
Anyways... I got the original drawings of an early version of this knife.</div>

<br />
I took some cheap but great simple styled little notebooks and made a present for my kids.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The right one is not lasercut, but laser-engraved, and the result is a more subtile effect, more suitable for artwork.</div>
<div>
You can vary the dept of the engraving, and the power-output of the laser, to gain a darker effect.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I even engraved a brick with some words and a QR-code...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I plan to cut them on demand with all kind of text and namework...<br />

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">The Skaven are one of the armies of the races that populate the Warhammer world.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">They are mutated rats that are keen to wage war to any foe.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br />
They are not very brave, and their battle motto is "Scurry away to fight another day!"</span><br />

It's my own fantasy army and I like them because of their crazy looking medieval army with all kind of monsters and weird "Da Vinci" like machines.</span><br />

All the curved slots were designed to store the standard Citadel (Games Workshop) paint pots, but can also hold other 35 mm (or smaller) base paint systems.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
The big holes are for storing various containers or pots, the small holes for brushes and the other??? We'll find out.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
The small holes on the vertical sides are intended for future use, like screwing on "devices" like magnifying glasses, lamps or whatever...</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
The sides were also engraved with "Orky stuff" and some Warhammer universe icons.</span><br />

Everything was connected using droplets of white glue plus droplets of superglue (gel).</span><br />
