A set of steel mittens I've worked on for a re-enactor client.
It's been hard work, but they fit like a glove!
Both front and back of the Lorica Segmentata are fastened with leather straps, fed through special clasps. I had to make 72 (24 per armour).
The Dutch Thermenmuseum in Heerlen has asked me to reproduce three Roman Lorica Segmentata, Corbridge type B and helmets to go with it (Galea, type Imperial Gallic).
